PRESENTER BIOGRAPHIES

Louis Fusco is the principal of Louis Fusco Landscape Architects, a full-service landscape architectural design office located in Pound Ridge, NY. Known for site sensitive creative designs, his projects have been recognized with numerous Connecticut & New York ASLA awards; featured in professional journals and magazines. Louis began his career in Milan, Italy and NYC specializing in urban design and city parks. His present practice balances private and public works, campus planning and estate design. The recipient of CTASLA’s 2020 Yarwood Award for his ongoing service to the profession, Louis is pleased to work with CT ASLA and O&G again on their 2024 professional education event.

Amy Syverson-Shaffer is passionate about connecting people to nature and to each other. Her past work as a landscape architect and in business development frames her relationships-first approach to taking on big challenges. Today, she is lending her design acumen and contextual understanding to leading sustainability for the modern craft manufacturer, Landscape Forms. Since 2023, she’s served on the ASLA Biodiversity and Climate Action Committee, working to bridge between key efforts by Landscape Architects and their industry partner community. On any given day, you can find her enjoying a collaboration with colleagues or working in the garden.

Mike Zengen has been with Unilock New York, Inc. for over 30 years and has helped hundreds of clients to complete numerous prominent projects in the Tri-State area. Mike’s involvement over the years with ASLA, NCMA, and ICPI has enabled him to keep involved with the Specifier Community and establish

himself as a professional resource. Unilock is a leading local manufacturer of concrete Paving Stones & Retaining Walls.

Louis P. Grasso Jr., LEEP AP, is the Lead Inventor of Pozzotive®, a Co-Managing Partner of Urban Mining Industries, LLC and Chief Executive Officer of Urban Mining CT LLC, a licensed regional producer of Pozzotive®. Louis has over 35 years of experience combined in commercial construction and development and in the manufacturing, marketing and distribution of masonry products. As the Lead Inventor of Pozzotive® including several US Patents regarding Ground Glass Pozzolans for use in concrete, he has committed over 20 years of his professional career toward the commercialization of the product. Louis is responsible for new product and plant development, operations and ongoing efforts to educate the design, development and construction industries on the benefits of Pozzotive® and to strengthen the Pozzotive® brand.

Carissa Demore joined Historic New England in 2013 and became Team Leader of Preservation Services in 2017. In this role, she provides strategic and operational oversight to Historic New England’s preservation policy, planning, and outreach activities, including directing the annual Historic New England Summit, New England’s largest conference about our collective roles in creating livable and resilient communities, directing the Preservation Easement Program and Historic New England’s grant making programs, and leading development of the Historic New England Center for Preservation and Collections in Haverhill, Massachusetts. She is currently a board member of Docomomo-NE and a member of the Professional Advisory Committee for the Wentworth School of Technology School Architecture Program and has served on the boards of New England Chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians the Downtown Waltham Partnership. She is a 2018 recipient of the Preservation Massachusetts Paul and Niki Tsongas Award. Carissa has a B.S. in Landscape

Architecture from Colorado State University and a Master’s degree in Historic Preservation from the University of Maryland and previously worked for the City of Annapolis and the L’Enfant Trust in Washington, D.C.

Bill Kenny founder of William Kenny Associates has more than 25 years of experience in site and environmental planning and construction. Mr. Kenny is a Certified Professional Wetland Scientist, a Soil Scientist, Registered Landscape Architect and a Certified Organic Land Care Professional. Mr. Kenny earned a degree in Environmental Management from Yale University School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, a degree in Landscape Design from the University of Connecticut and completed post graduate studies in Soil Science at the University of Massachusetts.
