Landscape Architecture + Planning Internship - Summer 2019  (posted May 17, 2019)

Langan Landscape Architecture + Planning has a summer (June - August) internship opportunity in the New Haven, CT office. The successful candidate will have an enthusiastic, can-do attitude while working on exciting local and international projects for University, Streetscape, Rooftop Courtyard, Healthcare, Retail, Public, and Government clients. Langan’s New Haven Studio is a multi-disciplinary office where the LA+P intern will work along with environmental scientists, geotechnical engineers, civil engineers, GIS specialists, and surveyors.

The LA+P intern will assist with discipline-related office work and technical aspects of projects including site and master planning and construction oversight. Requirements are listed below. (Hours of operation: 8:30 am – 5:15 pm Monday through Friday)

Job Requirements:

  • Working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture;

  • Prior related internship experience desired;

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred;

  • Highly creative and possess exceptional computer skills in Adobe Suite, Sketchup, AutoCAD, Rhino, and Excel;

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills; and

  • The ability to occasionally travel to other regional Langan offices.

Preference will be given to students currently in their junior or senior year and to students pursuing their MS degree. Resume, cover letter, and work / design samples must be provided for consideration.

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Land Planning and Landscape Design

  • Preparation of Landscape Construction Documents

  • Demonstrating proficiency in all design- and drafting-related software, AutoDesk, Civil 3D, Drainage software and M-Color.

  • Responsible for multiple facets of project document preparation and delivery including: site layout plans, grading and drainage plans, utilities plans, sediment and erosion control plans, road profiles, utility profiles, technical calculations, cost estimates, traffic studies, stormwater reports, presentation graphics, applications, etc.

  • Assist in preparation efforts for technical meetings with review entities and public meetings

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

  • RLA registration a plus.

  • AutoCAD, Civil 3D experience required.
    Excellent writing, communication, and analytical skills.

MKM Landscape Architecture is currently seeking a talented Project Landscape Designer with 2-5 years of experience to join our team. The firm, founded more than 35 years ago, has completed a wide range of national and international design projects. Our new office, in New Rochelle, NY, is within close walking distance of the Metro North / Amtrak terminal.

Applicant should be able to work well in a collaborative environment and possess strong communication, design and graphic skills, as evidenced by documented project experience and a portfolio showing a range of project types and drawings. Demonstrated experience in Construction Documentation / detailing are a prerequisite for this job. Applicant should be mature, organized, and detail-oriented.

Ideal candidates will be proficient with AutoCAD (2010 and above), Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, and Sketch Up. Minimum BLA from an accredited university required, MLA preferred. Licensing is viewed favorably but not required. Certifications are viewed favorably.
